Silicon Valley
Girls For A Change started in Silicon Valley in 2002 with our first ever Girl Summit, an all day conference for girls. The idea for GFC was also born here when founder Whitney Smith partnered with the Silicon Valley Girls Coalition, Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County, the Office of Women’s Advocacy in Santa Clara County and other organizations to launch the program. Currently Silicon Valley has more than 40 Girl Action Teams each year. The teams are located in Santa Clara County, San Mateo County, San Francisco County and Alameda County.
