Eleanor Rouse, National Development Director
As the National Development Director, Eleanor is responsible for securing investments in and cultivating partnerships for Girls For A Change’s national vision and local programs in Richmond, Virginia. Previously, Eleanor was GFC’s New Ventures Director in Phoenix where she led and raised the pilot year funding for GFC’s first expansion site. Eleanor grew up the youngest of five daughters in Newport News, Virginia. After graduating from Northwestern University, she began her non-profit career at the National Endowment for the Arts. She went on to manage Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York and helped to establish the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. She has raised nearly $5 million for the arts, public education, community development and girls' and women's empowerment. Eleanor co-founded a women’s non-profit leadership circle in Richmond, and OPUS, a young supporters group of the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation. She has guest lectured on arts administration for Virginia Commonwealth University and been named a Community Fellow of the Full Circle Fund in San Francisco. Eleanor is also a somatic coach and facilitates personal growth workshops.
