Speaking Out About "Girl Fights"

Violence_2 When a video of a brutal "girl fight" in Florida was posted on YouTube in April, it sparked media coverage of violence among girls and debate about whether so-called girl aggression is on the rise. Here the GFC community discusses the problem—and solutions:

Each year, hundreds of girls join Girl Action Teams through GFC and create and implement projects to improve their communities. Many of these projects focus on ending and preventing violence—from bullying to girl fights and gossip to gang violence, genocide, child abuse and domestic violence. Completion Ceremonies!

Completion08 Each year, we celebrate the girls, women and community supporters that make GFC possible. Our annual Completion Ceremonies feature keynote speakers, "IT Girl" Awards, and video presentations of 2007-2008 Girl Action Team projects as well as testimonials from Coaches about their GFC experiences.

Girl Action Teams!

Actionteams_2 More than 23 Girl Action Teams in Phoenix and 48 teams in Silicon Valley started meeting in October. They've spent time connecting and discussing issues in their community that they would like to improve. Now they are hard at work creating social change projects that will transform their communities!
