Calling all Black Girls! We’re Celebrating the International Day Of The Girl. Gather your friends, family, club members, or colleagues for a day to celebrate the Beauty of Black Women and Girls across the globe. Girls For A Change has three awesome, empowering events to participate in on Saturday, October 13th. Details below.

Note: Black Girl Rally is three events. All are free, however you must register for each event you plan to attend.

Meet & Greet Empire Actress Serayah

The day of events kicks off at DTLR, a longtime supporter and sponsor of Girls For A Change. They will host a Meet and Greet with Actress Serayah. Serayah is best known for her role as singer Tiana Brown on the television show Empire.

This event is FREE but advanced registration is required. Sponsored by DTLR.

Black Girl Rally

Join us for a rally to acknowledge and recognize how incredible and inspiring girls are, and how these brilliant black girls are young leaders who bring so much value to their communities. This evening event is for girls ages 11 to 18 and covers a variety of topics related to the fight against colorism in the black community. The event will include light refreshments, dinner, and entertainment.


"DARK GIRLS" SCREENING: HOSTED BY VCU's Department of African American Studies 

The VCU Department of African Studies is hosting a public film screening of the documentary “Dark Girls with a Q & A with Co-Director and producer D. Channsin Berry. The screening will happen immediately after the rally from 7pm-9pm located inside the theater at Singleton Center for the Performing Arts on VCU’s campus.
